Will Aid: 30 years of helping those in need

Will Aid is a thriving partnership between the dedicated legal profession and nine UK charities. Every November participating solicitors waive their fee for writing a basic will and instead invite clients to make a voluntary donation to Will Aid.

The success of Will Aid rests solely on the participation of solicitors across the UK. The Private Client sector is by its very nature a people driven part of law, an engaged, kind and understanding area where clients lay bare their most private thoughts and wishes, hopeful that once they are gone all is left in order.

Without caring solicitors like those in the sector, the scheme wouldn’t be possible and these vital funds wouldn’t be raised. The donations raised support the crucial work of the charities involved.

Extremely proud of its achievements, Will Aid is celebrating 30 years of helping a range of people in need! Since creation in 1988, over £20 million in donations has been raised to help the nine charities, with many millions more in charitable bequests.

This in itself is an astonishing feat; however, Will Aid has also helped over 300,000 people make their Wills. Those that may have been putting off the difficult consideration of afterlife planning have made a Will and secured their peace of mind.

The established scheme also has a positive impact on the solicitors and firms that are kind enough to participate. Taking part in an established charity campaign like Will Aid often leads to further work.

With its heavy PR presence and backing from established figures both within the industry and celebrities from stage and screen, Will Aid generates enquiries from people across the full spectrum of society, who are reminded of the importance of a will.

Participation brings not only potential new business, but also repeat business too. Recommendations from client family and friends can occur as a result. From a simple mirror Will enquiry, more business can naturally flow meaning that a fuller service can be offered. All with a charitable beginning. Returning participant firms have indicated that their companies have accrued work and increased relationships through the recommendations that follow after people have used the Will Aid service.

Laura Brown, Calthrops Solicitors LLP, sums this up saying  “Will Aid raises the profile of Calthrops Solicitors in many ways. Many Will Aid clients have recommended us and referred other family members to us as a result.”

Will Aid is also a way of increasing brand awareness for a firm. A soft approach to reach those clients all firms seek. Will Aid spends a lot of time and energy raising awareness of the participating firms in the local and national press. From the 3rd September, anybody looking for a Will can clearly see the generous firms offering their services. This is a wonderful platform for publicity and recognition that your firm is noble, trustworthy and altruistic.

Finally, as a participating firm all involved will inevitably feel the innate warmth that only comes from the philanthropic act of helping others in need.

If you want to make a huge difference, improve your company’s profile and potentially gain additional business, then it is imperative that you follow the link and sign up to Will Aid.
