IPW announce August events

With exclusive training courses and accreditation opportunities, August is set to be another busy month for members of the Institute of Professional Willwriters.

As well as providing will writers with a reputable accreditation to demonstrate a high level of expertise, the IPW regularly hold high-quality training courses for all professionals involved in wills and probate.

All IPW training is provided by the Willwriting Academy Limited who have recently been accredited as a formal provider of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) by the CPD Standards Office.  This means that a number of courses delivered will go towards CPD, ensuring your services and professionalism are maintained at the highest level.

Presented by highly-experienced speakers, the specialised training will be relevant for those new to the profession as well as those who have years of experience, with a focus on refreshing understanding and keeping to date.

Suitable for members as well as those who are yet to join, the courses cover a range of current topics including estate administration, mental capacity and taxation, with completely new training sessions being developed throughout the year.

The 9th of August brings the opportunity to sit the IPW’s Entrance Exam, being held at Coventry’s Nettle Hill Training Centre. This plays a key role in becoming a member of the IPW, and reassures clients that they will receive a high standard of service. Once in their membership year, Student Members of the Institute are also able to sit the examination for free.

On the 15th of August, a one-day course providing key guidance on Advising The Elderly is due to take place in Reading. Formally accredited by the CPD and led by expert Sue Ioannou, the course will provide attendees with specialist knowledge, enabling them to enhance their understanding of issues affecting elderly clients. This is set to include key advice around capacity, care fees and asset protection as well as providing practical advice by going through worked sample wills to provide practical guidance.

The month comes to a close with the Introduction To Estate Taxation Course, set to take place in Stockport on the 31st August. Also accredited by the CPD, this one-day course will provide attendees with up-to-date knowledge on the law and practice around estate taxation, particularly in relation to inheritance and capital gains tax.  It will cover key topics including allowances available on death, quick succession relief, Business Property relief as well as important updates on the residence nil rate band.
