The Arken Story – Part 1

Over 25 years ago, a trio of ambitious legal professionals set out on a mission to help the Will-Writing sector see a whole new way of working, developing DPL Professional.

Pioneers in what they aimed to achieve, Chris Brewer, Alistair Cree and Beverley Freestone had a vision to transform the estate planning industry through innovation, bringing intuitive software to the fingertips of a whole new audience.

From the mid-1990s, DPL Professional were ahead of the curve in identifying key trends which would make the lives of their clients easier. The harnessing of technology was being seen across a number of sectors, with the growth of digitisation emerging across market front-runners on a global basis.

Having recognised the key digital movements starting to be made across a range of industries, and with their sights set on boosting awareness around estate planning importance, they created Arken, fuelled by an ambition to shake up the sector.

Aware that the world was moving towards embracing digitisation, the team were pioneers in the belief that utilising online platforms would be key to increasing the number of adults that have a Will.

Of course, being a pioneer is one thing, but becoming a leader is another. Arken’s desire to deliver a product which is highly intuitive whilst effectively minimising risk has led them to be at the forefront of development in the sector, expertly crafting software with the complex needs of professionals and clients in mind. After all, Arken was set up by a trio of professionals who were, and still are part of the sector themselves – they hadn’t set out on the journey to simply solve someone else’s problems, they were trying to solve the ones that they faced on a daily basis.
