  • 9th /10th December — 10 CPD hours

Tutor: Mike Smith

The importance of will writing and exit strategy is increasingly underplayed and treated with negligence across the UK, which is understandable. Death and exiting strategy isn’t at the forefront of business peoples’ minds due to excess stress and workload. However, many could fall short if not prepared; this course from The Society of Will Writers (SWW) is helping to combat that.

According to the Federation of Small Businesses, at the start of 2014 there were 5.2 million businesses in the UK employing 25.2 million people with a combined turnover in excess of £3,500 billion. However, in spite of the high number of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) contributing to the UK economy, very few of them have even contemplated exit strategy and succession planning.

This new course being held at the SWW College of Will Writing Training Facility in Lincoln, is priced at £300 for members and £350 for non-members. The course is designed to ensure preparation is managed effectively should a mishandling of business affairs occur, along with other potential hazards. Establishing good management of preparation is key for a sustainable business, which is something the course will help to bolster.

The course will last all of 2 days and will provide attendees with coverage of all the following, plus many more related topics: estate planning and will writing for business clients; how to effectively advise various clients, including sole owners and partnerships; Business Property Relief (BPR) and transfers; and related reliefs and agreements.
