12% more deaths of 15-44 year olds

The latest figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) have revealed the 15-44 age group has witnessed the greatest monthly surge in deaths, compared to every other age group – seeing a 12% rise.

From an average weekly total of 258 in June to 293 in July – this is a significant increase and highlights the importance of having a valid will in place from an early age, not just following retirement. If people have property, businesses, children or dependants they need to be educated on the consequences of not planning for the worst.

Today’s report also revealed the East of the UK has seen the greatest monthly increase in deaths, compared to other regions.

Regions that have seen a rise in the average weekly death rates include the North East, East, and South East – all seeing a 1-4% increase. The area with the greatest change is the South West, which saw a 6% rise in the average weekly death figures.

When analysing the changes by age group, the most significant for those aged over 60 was the increase in the deaths of females aged 85+ where the average weekly figure went from 2,138 in June to 2,240 in July – up 5%. Although the weekly figure had decreased by 1% for men, the combined for both males and females within this group increased by a total of 2% overall.
