Industry body aims to educate consumers

A new web platform aiming to provide families with financial planning advice has recently been launched by a family inheritance and succession planning body.

Step hopes that the website – www.advisingfamilies.org – will advise families on the most frequently asked questions regarding future finance. They highlight that the site will address issues such as the importance of writing a will and the things that need to be considered when retiring overseas.

Trust and estate practitioner members of Step will author the articles, which will then be distributed through social media channels.

Commenting on the launch of the new site was George Hodgson. The chief executive of Step outlined the aims of the site and drew attention to people often needing advice during trying times such as birth and death.

“We are proud to launch this new website to help families plan for their futures. People often need advice at momentous or difficult points in their lives – the birth of a child, marriage, divorce, the death or illness of a loved one, moving abroad, retiring – these can be emotional and confusing times.

“Through the site, Step hopes to provide clarity about the sometimes complex issues that need to be considered and reassurance that there is help available if they need it.”
