Dying Matters: are you talking about dying, death and bereavement?

This week between 18th and 24th May 2015, Dying Matters is running its sixth annual Dying Matters Awareness Week. The aim of the week is to get as many people as possible talking about death, dying, bereavement and end of life plans.

The theme of the week is ‘Talk, Plan, Live’ and the Twitter hashtag is #YODO (you only die once). Dying Matters wants everyone to have a good death and, to make the end of life experience better, they are encouraging members of the public to take 5 simple steps, which are:

  • Write a will
  • Record funeral wishes
  • Plan future care and support
  • Consider registering as an organ donor
  • Tell loved ones about wishes

To help spread awareness of the week, and the importance having a good death, you can get involved in Dying Matters Awareness Week by running an event or simply getting involved on social media by sending out a tweet to your followers, using the hashtag #YODO.
