DPL Professional bought by New Zealand based Kōwhiri

Document Plus Limited, who trade as DPL Professional have been bought by New Zealand based Wills firm Kōwhiri Ltd.

The firm named after the Maori word for choice say they are New Zealand’s leading online will writer with 100,000 users of their products, which include “My-Bucketlist”, “ewills” and “myDigital Vault”.

Kōwhiri Managing Director, Andrew Barnes has over 30 years’ experience across financial and fiduciary sectors. He has owned and run trust companies and digital businesses in New Zealand, Australia and the UK.

Andrew Barnes said: “The acquisition of DPL gives us reach into the global markets for our consumer product line and also enables us to provide solutions at the professional level in our existing marketplaces.”

DPL Professional say they are a global leader in the supply of will drafting systems and were established in 1992.

Alistair Cree, Managing Director, DPL Professional, adds: “The synergies between DPL and Kōwhiri, in terms of innovation, vision, marketplace and geographic location, makes this a match that can only continue to benefit the Will, Trust and Estates businesses internationally, for both professionals and consumers”.

Continuity of business and relationships is important to both parties. Christopher Brewer, Alistair Cree, and Beverley Freestone will remain on the board of DPL and will continue to work within the business. They will be joined by three Kōwhiri representatives. As part of the transaction, Kōwhiri will be investing additional funds to accelerate the development and roll-out of DPL’s new generation Clauseworks and Private Client Suite systems.
