This week the Women in Will’s LinkedIn group celebrated hitting over 430 members.
In the current climate, having meaningful conversations with your peers can help get you through the day. Although social distancing guidelines prevented events taking place allowing members to meet up in person, the online community has continued to thrive.
Regular meetings conducted using Zoom has helped those across the country stay connected and share stories and best practice.
The group is still in its infancy, as it slowly approaches its first birthday in July. However, the ability it has to encourage and facilitate friendships, relationships and collaboration across the industry, and bringing legal service providers together in a relaxed and enjoyable environment, plays testament to its success.
Jade Gani, Private Client Solicitor at Aston Bond, said:
“I was invited to join Women in Wills by a fellow member and jumped at the chance. Connecting with these focused, ambitious and professional ladies has been a lifeline in quarantine. The support alone is incredible, but it’s so beneficial to be able to vent and brainstorm about the issues Private Client practitioners are facing. I’ve also learnt something new every week from associated professions too.
“I would wholeheartedly recommend the Women in Wills group to others, it’s the perfect relaxed form of networking we need.”
Sarah Walker, Principle Associate at Weightmans LLP, said:
“I was introduced to the group by another member. She sold it to me as a group of like-minded women working in this sector. I have found the camaraderie and genuine desire of the members to support and learn from other members truly refreshing.
“My first meeting happened a few weeks ago in the midst of the Covid-19 lockdown and as the leader of the national team, having others in the profession with a variety of backgrounds to brainstorm and discuss ideas with and to learn from has been really helpful.
“I would definitely encourage others in the profession to join the group. It is unique amongst other groups out there; everyone is warm and welcoming and there is a wealth of knowledge available for us as members to tap into. Sharing our own experiences helps others too.”
