The Society of Will Writers Annual Conference 2014 – celebrating 20 years in the industry

The Society of Will Writers are celebrating their 20th Anniversary and this year will be holding an extra special Annual Conference, exclusively for industry professionals at The Abbey Hotel in Redditch.

The 2014 event will be the society’s 18th Annual Conference and is set to be a great opportunity for wills and probate professionals to gain vast knowledge and valuable insight from industry experts.

Next week, the conference will run across two days on 6th and 7th October 2014 and will consist of a traditional conference, followed by a series of workshops.

The main conference will begin the morning of the 6th October and will feature expert-led discussions, as well as meals and refreshments served throughout the day. During the evening dinner, fantastic entertainment will be provided to all guests.

Speakers at the conference will include:

  • Judge Denzil Lush, Senior Judge of the Court of Protection, who will be offering an insight into his experiences at the court.
  • Chris Erwood, a highly qualified tax practitioner who will be speaking about Business Property Relief (BPR) and Agricultural Property Relief (APR).
  • Martyn Frost, a wills and trusts consultant who will be discussing new cases affecting will writing.
  • Mike Smith, a qualified solicitor and College of Will Writing tutor who will be holding a talk about multiple property ownership.

 

During the second day, guests will be divided into groups to attend a series of three workshops. Each will last for 1 hour and all attendees will be able to take part in each workshop, at various intervals throughout the day.

The sessions will consist of:

  • “Trusts” workshop led by Mike Smith, member of STEP and experienced Trusts expert.
  • “Wills for Cohabitants” workshop led by Martyn Frost, highly experienced wills and trusts consultant.
  • “Assessing Mental Capacity” workshop led by Tim Farmer, founder and Managing Director of TSF Consultants — the UK’s largest provider of mental capacity assessments to the legal profession.
