Number of people seeking financial advice grows

Recent research has revealed that the proportion of people seeking financial advice has seen an uplift in the last two years.

However, whilst the research from Aegon suggests a 25% increase in the number of people seeking advice since 2016, this proportion remains modest at just 10% of those asked.

Reflecting the results of their previous survey conducted two years ago, this results of the research from May 2018 are largely similar. It revealed that just under half (47%) of those asked said they made financial decisions alone, with 40% stating that their spouse or partner would help.

Commenting on the results of the survey was Pensions Director at Aegon, Steven Cameron. He said:  “Since last year, the numbers accessing their pensions flexibly through pension freedoms has continued to grow. Making the right decision on your retirement finances is hugely important and really should be done only with the help of a professional adviser.”
