Entrepreneurs decline Dragon’s investment for their new scattering ashes service

Whilst most of us will not have the chance to explore space during our lifetime, a new service may make it possible to soar among the stars after death.

Featured on last Sunday’s Dragon’s Den, company ‘Sent into Space’ pitched their ‘Ascension’ service, where they offer to send ashes of loved ones off into space.

The space exploration company specialises in testing new technology, aiming to make ‘space seem that little bit nearer for everyone.’

The process involves sending the ashes up attached to a balloon, set with tracking, control and camera equipment in order to ensure that it ascends safely. Shortly after the balloon is released and unloads its cargo, the whole package returns back to earth using its inbuilt parachute.

The company ensure that the process is safe, stating that the releases are regulated by the Civil AViation Authority and packages are usually retrieved within minutes of making their return to earth.

To date, the company have reported over 250 launches and claim that they have a 100% success rate.

Stating that they aim to make the service as accessible as possible, the company state that they have a range of packages with prices starting at £800.

Whilst they turned down an investment from Dragon Deborah Meaden, the company are encouraging funeral directors who are interested in supplying the Ascension service to contact them.
