Celebrating Ten Years Of The Bold Legal Group

Celebrating Ten Years Of The Bold Legal Group

Free online forum now available to all conveyancers

The Bold Legal Group is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

Founder Rob Hailstone said:

“It is no secret that the BLG was formed after Hips went, and that Bold stood for bundle of legal documents. However, pretty quickly in 2010 I realised that voluntary packs were not going to take off then, in the middle of a recession!

“What was wanted, and has stood the test of time, is an association of conveyancing firms that can share challenges, successes and help with each other’s problems. We now have over 700 member firms of all shapes and sizes from Penzance to Carlisle and our weekly bulletins are now read by some 5000 individual conveyancers, lenders, PII companies, search providers. In fact, pretty much anyone seriously involved in the home buying and selling process.

“In addition to the bulletins we have our CPD accredited BLGTraining system and our new 24/7 online discussion forum, with over 200 regular users.

“The bulletins include/cover, amongst other things; Regulatory changes; SRA Alerts; HMLR Updates; Law Society Practice Notes; Relevant case details (i.e. Dreamvar, Purrunsing etc); Information webinars (i.e. The new Code for Completion); Counsels Advice (i.e. Housing Act 1988); GDPR; 5th Anti-Money Laundering Directive; AML and ID checks; Fraud and Cybersecurity issues; SDLT changes; Lender requirements.

“As this is our 10th anniversary we are offering free access to, and use of, the online forum to any individual conveyancer or conveyancing firm in England and Wales.”

This is what some of the BLG member think of the forum:

“The introduction of the online forum earlier this year is an excellent add-on to the BLG bulletins: It provides 24/7 access and it is therefore sometimes quicker to obtain a response; users can have multi-party conversations, rather than bilateral ones; it is easy to check back on earlier posts by scrolling through the subject headings and it is easy to join, to log in and dip in as desired.”

Justin Nelson, Solicitor, Nelsons

“I really like using the BLG online forum – it’s full of knowledgeable, friendly and helpful people.  It’s invaluable being able to ask a conveyancing/property related question and then receiving lots of different views and opinions. It has certainly been of help to me and I am very glad that I signed up a few months’ ago.”

Claire Newton, Solicitor, Currey & Co

“The forum is starting to provide a more easily searchable archive of BLG posts including information on subjects that might not be relevant my practice today but might be in a few months (e.g. the advice from PropertyLaw.guru on Private Road maintenance or contact details for the CPS relating to Proceeds of Crime Restriction).  The more it is used and the more BLG content that is stored within the forum system the more comprehensive the search results will be.”

Alex Snow, Practice Manager, Braddon Snow

The team at Today’s Conveyancer, Today’s Wills and Probate and Lawyer Checker would like to congratulate Rob, Lynne and the Bold Legal Group team on their 10- year anniversary. It will be interesting to see what the next 10 years brings!
