Following its recent merger with Monro Wright & Wasbrough, Nicholas Barlow has joined Bishop & Sewell as Partner and Head of Private Client, where he will lead the ten strong team, which provides a full range services including wills and succession planning, administration of estates, powers of attorney and trust planning and administration.

Nicholas specialises in advising high net worth UK and international families and trustees across a broad range of areas including tax, succession planning and trusts.

Having graduated from Exeter with a degree in law, Nicholas joined Monro Pennefather & Co as a Trainee Solicitor in 1996. Nicholas became a Partner at Monro Wright & Wasbrough (MWW) in 2003, heading up the Private Client team in 2008 and joined Bishop & Sewell following its merger with MWW in February 2021.

Having been the Training Principal for MWW’s Trainee Solicitors and participated in the BPP Law School’s ‘Access to Practice’ scheme for a number of years, mentoring students on the Legal Practice Course, Nicholas has been instrumental in the training and development of many young lawyers.

Nicholas said:

“I am delighted to have joined such a progressive and forward-thinking firm and I am looking forward to working with Helen Langworthy in helping Bishop & Sewell to continue to expand its client base and service offering.

“We’ve seen a marked increase in the volume of private client work over the past year, as the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has focussed people’s attention on the need to think about the future and safeguard their assets for their chosen beneficiaries. By building enduring relationships with our clients and working alongside their accountants and financial planners, Bishop & Sewell’s Private Client team provides clear, concise and well-informed advice on how best to protect assets, both now and in the future.”

Mark Chick, Senior Partner at Bishop & Sewell, commented:

“We are delighted to welcome Nicholas to the firm. He is a highly respected practitioner, with an impressive breadth and wealth of experience in the private client sphere. His experience will be invaluable in driving the development of our private client services, benefitting the firm and its clients.”
